Strategy Effectiveness Surveys Overview
One of the board’s most important roles is to provide leadership and influence over the long-term direction and strategy of the organisation they govern.
Many boards, CEOs, and executive teams often lack an objective assessment of their organisation’s effectiveness in planning, developing, executing, and monitoring their strategy. They frequently find that their views on strategic strengths and areas for improvement are not uniformly shared across all directors and executives.
Our Strategy Effectiveness Report provides the first objective evidence available regarding the organisation’s strategic approach. It enables boards, CEOs, and executives to see where their perspectives align and where they differ. They gain insights into their strengths in strategy and identify key areas for improvement. Benefits of a Strategy Effectiveness Survey
Board Benchmarking created a Strategy Effectiveness Survey to provide boards, CEOs and executive teams with an objective view as to the effectiveness of how they deal with strategy. Our Strategy Effectiveness Survey helps boards, CEOs and executive teams:
- Understand what areas of strategy they excel at, what areas they are reasonable at and the areas they could most improve.
- Determine the extent of the alignment between the board and executives (including the CEO) concerning strategy, the areas where the extent of alignment most diverges, and to have hard discussions to build alignment.
- Reach alignment around the areas of their organisation’s strategy that could be improved and develop a road map towards such improvement.
Without such Strategy Effectiveness Survey boards, CEOs and executive teams will be somewhat in the dark.
Strategy Effectiveness Survey Process
We recommend boards and executives complete our Strategy Effectiveness Survey to gain additional perspectives and added value.
Once the survey is complete, a Strategy Effectiveness Report is provided to the designated recipient, typically the CEO or the Chair. We or one of our strategy experts can offer a debriefing session on interpreting and acting on the report effectively.
