The first evidence-based Board Benchmarking report
“Over the past 20 years, I have reviewed and helped improve more than 250 boards and overseen another 250 board reviews. Those reviews have given me deep insights into the good boards, the bad and the ugly too” says Nicholas Barnett, Executive Chairman of Board Benchmarking.
We are excited to announce, together with our Board Advisory Partners from around the world, that we have reached a milestone of conducting more than 500 board reviews. This is a massive achievement that very few organisations in the world have accomplished and accordingly, we are very proud.
To celebrate we have put together this report to share our research, learnings and insights into what makes a highly effective board. Inside the report, you’ll discover:
- Our 27 key learnings: Extracted from our initial 500 board reviews, highlighting the most critical takeaways
- Measuring progress: A comparison of the first 250 reviews with the subsequent 250, offering a comprehensive overview of boards’ development
- A glimpse behind the scenes: Providing a unique perspective on the intricacies of board evaluations
- Expert contributions: Articles from both our team and esteemed global Board Advisory Partners, addressing critical board issues, matters, and valuable tips
The overall conclusion of this report is that boards have improved over the last few years, but not fast enough to keep up with the increases in community expectations and new regulatory and governance demands.
